Immunisation or Vaccination is an important public health measure which prevents many diseases from causing significant sickness in individuals. Prior to widespread availability of immunisations many preventable diseases such as Measles could result in serious infections and death or disability.

Fortunately, as the vaccines have evolved they are now safer than ever with minimal side effects and Australia has a comprehensive vaccination program which is free to Medicare Card holders and all Government funded vaccination are supplied free of charge at our clinic.
Even if you are not eligible for the Government funded vaccinations in certain circumstances it is still recommended to get immunised while you are travelling, there is a newborn in the family and/or you are working in the health profession.

In addition to this, it is a good idea to get regular skin checks. The frequency of these skin checks depends on your age, your sun exposure and predisposing factors, but generally as you get older more regular skin checks are required (usually annual skin checks are adequate)

There is no standard health check up for anyone as family history, pre-existing illness and medication that you are on can change the review intervals. However, basics such as blood pressure, body mass index (BMI – height and weight) and waist size are important basic measurements that should be recorded for everyone on a regular basis.

Sexually transmissible diseases are infectious diseases where the primary mode of transmission is through sexual contact. They are a major public health concern throughout the world as they can often be asymptomatic and may increase the risk of other life threatening conditions.

Sporting injuries are a common and unfortunate side effect of keeping an active lifestyle. The majority of these resolve by simple Rest and Ice (RICE) principal where for the first 48 hours you rest a soft tissue injury and apply ice for 20 minutes every two hours to help reduce the swelling and pain.
However, if an injury persists, involves a suspected fracture or causes severe pain then a medical review is warranted with relevant imaging being organised and appropriate referrals.
